PRODUCT INFORMATION

Steelnix sells a wide range of carbon steel products that can be used in business and industry. We use our carbon steels because they have consistent chemistry, predictable mechanical qualities, and clean surface finishes. We have plates, coils, sheets, bars, pipes, and structural sections in both standard and custom sizes. We also help with projects by cutting, shaping, machining, and certifying to the right standards.

What is Carbon Steel?

The main strengthening element in carbon steel is carbon. It is an iron-based alloy. There are also small amounts of manganese, silicon, sulphur, and phosphorus to help with processing and regulate characteristics. The same family of materials can be soft and easy to shape for stamping, or tough and resistant to wear for heavy-duty parts, depending on the amount of carbon and the heat treatment. When corrosion resistance is needed, coatings and good design are necessary since carbon steel doesn’t have enough chromium to make the protective layer that stainless steel has.

Benefits of Carbon Steel

Carbon steel is a good choice since it has a good blend of performance, availability, and cost. It has good weldability in several grades, good toughness at normal service temperatures, and reliable strength. Low carbon versions are easier to shape and manufacture for making a lot of them. Heat treatment works well on higher carbon grades to make them harder and more resistant to wear. A large number of suppliers throughout the world and clear standards make it easier for companies in different fields to meet requirements and minimise lead times.

Applications of Carbon Steel

When strong, cheap materials are needed, carbon steel is used. In building, it turns into beams, columns, plates, and reinforced parts. In the energy and process sectors, it is used as pipelines, flanges, pressure-vessel plates, and storage tanks. For chassis parts, wheels, rails and body panels in the right grades, transportation depends on it. Shafts, fasteners, frames, tooling bases, and farm tools are all examples of general engineering uses. Carbon steel works effectively in infrastructure and utility projects that are exposed to the weather when it is coated or galvanised.

Types of Carbon Steel

People usually group carbon steels by how much carbon they have and how they are made. Low carbon steels, often known as mild steels, have up to 0.25% carbon in them. They are used for forming, welding, and general manufacturing. Medium carbon steels, which have between 0.25% and 0.60% carbon, are stronger and can be heat treated to make gears, axles, and other machine parts last longer. After quenching and tempering, high carbon steels with more than 0.60% carbon become very hard and are used to make springs, cutting tools, and parts that wear out. We offer hot-rolled and cold-rolled sheet, normalised or as-rolled plate, hot-finished and cold-drawn bars, and seamless or welded pipe, all of which meet standards including ASTM, EN, and IS.

Processing and Services

We bring carbon steel to you in the optimal condition for your manufacturing plan. You can choose from as-rolled, pickled and oiled, normalised, normalised and tempered, or quenched and tempered for qualifying grades. Steelnix offers precise cutting, bending, drilling, beveling, and machining, as well as surface preparation like shot blasting, priming, and galvanising through trusted partners. You can get mill test certifications and third-party inspections if you ask for them.

Why Choose Steelnix for Carbon Steel Solutions?
