What is Stainless Steel 316H Tube?

The 316H Tube is a type of 316 stainless steel with a lot of carbon and is made to work at high temperatures. With more carbon (around 0.04–0.10%), it has better creep and stress-rupture strength while still being resistant to corrosion thanks to its Cr-Ni-Mo chemistry. It is usually supplied to ASTM A213/A269 (seamless/welded) with solution-annealed and pickled finishes. It works well in hot, corrosive environments up to about 800–900°C, thus it can be used for pressure-bearing and heat-transfer tasks. 

Applications and Benefits of 316H Tube

Some common uses of SS 316H Tubes are refinery heater coils, petrochemical transfer lines, power-plant superheaters/reheaters, high-temperature heat-exchanger bundles, steam lines, and process piping that carries hot chlorides or weakly reducing acids. The main advantages are that it is stronger and more resistant to creep at high temperatures than 316/316L Stainless Steel Tubes, doesn’t pit or corrode easily because of its Molybdenum content, welds and forms well for coils and U-bends, and scales well at high temperatures.
