What Are Alloy Steel Products?
Alloy steel is produced by adding elements such as chromium, molybdenum, nickel, manganese, silicon or vanadium to achieve targeted strength, hardenability, fatigue, wear or elevated-temperature performance.
Unlike stainless steel, engineering alloy steels are normally selected primarily for mechanical or heat-service performance. Product condition and heat treatment are essential because the same grade can deliver different properties in annealed, normalised, quenched-and-tempered or case-hardened conditions.
Choose Alloy Steel by Application
This guide is an initial reference. Final material selection must follow the applicable standard, design conditions, temperature, medium, fabrication route and inspection requirements.
High-temperature piping
For steam lines, headers, boiler tubes and pressure systems at elevated temperature.
Chrome-moly plate
For welded pressure equipment and refinery or power-plant applications.
High-strength components
For rotating parts requiring strength, toughness and heat-treatment response.
Case-hardened parts
For a hard wear-resistant surface combined with a tougher core.
Cyclic loading
For springs, blades and parts requiring fatigue or wear performance.
Critical components
For bolts, flanges, fittings and forged parts under pressure or load.
Popular Alloy Steel Grades and Specifications
Review the principal material families used for common industrial, pressure, fabrication and engineering requirements.
Pipe & Tube
Chrome-moly grades for pressure and elevated-temperature systems.
Engineering Bars
High-strength, hardenable grades for shafts and machined components.
