What Are Nickel Alloy Products?
Nickel alloys use nickel as a major element with chromium, molybdenum, iron, copper or other additions to achieve corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, high-temperature strength or specialised mechanical properties.
Different families are selected for different service conditions. Nickel-copper alloys are widely used in seawater, nickel-chromium alloys support heat and oxidation service, and nickel-chromium-molybdenum grades provide broad resistance to aggressive chemical environments.
Choose Nickel Alloy by Application
This guide is an initial reference. Final material selection must follow the applicable standard, design conditions, temperature, medium, fabrication route and inspection requirements.
Marine & offshore
For saltwater piping, pumps, valves, fasteners and marine components.
Aggressive acids
For reactors, piping, heat exchangers and vessels handling difficult media.
Furnaces & reformers
For oxidation, carburisation and elevated-temperature strength.
Aerospace & energy
For fasteners, shafts and load-bearing components requiring strength and corrosion resistance.
Chemical and electrical
For caustic handling and applications requiring commercially pure nickel.
Oil and gas
For chloride, sour and high-pressure components in offshore systems.
Popular Nickel Alloy Grades and Specifications
Review the principal material families used for common industrial, pressure, fabrication and engineering requirements.
Inconel Family
Nickel-chromium alloys for heat, oxidation, strength and corrosion service.
Monel Family
Nickel-copper alloys known for seawater and marine performance.
Hastelloy Family
Nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloys for aggressive chemical environments.
Incoloy & Pure Nickel
Process, heat, caustic and corrosion-resistant alloy families.
